Kensington Dollshouse Festival
Identity review Logotype 2009
The Kensington Dollshouse Festival appeals to collectors of all ages. Established in 1985 it has become the major international show for quality dolls' houses, miniatures & models. We were asked to create a logo that looked modern yet classical, one that would appeal to their burgeoning youth following and their traditionalists alike.
Taking inspiration from their previous ‘illustrative' logo, a minimal house was created using slab-serif letters as windows capped by a roof and balcony referenced from the original logo. The slab-serif font sits perfectly between sans and serif - between modern and classic, it is a very architectural, strong style. A light weight was chosen to portray the delicate nature of the work the festival displays, at first glance the font seems quite simple but with a closer look, fine details begin to emerge again referencing the delicate work of the craft.
